Continuing our series of updates of trends in science governance in specific countries and regions since the UNESCO Science Report was published two years ago, we focus here on Sudan’s new Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, adopted by the Council of Ministers in July 2017. Dr Mustafa El Tayeb, Vice-Chancellor of the Future University in Sudan and former Director of the Division for Science Policy and Sustainable Development at UNESCO until 2009, analyses the main thrusts of this policy and its implications for development in Sudan.
