UNESCO has launched the first edition of its new monthly Education Podcast. Produced by the Education Sector, it contains news, updates and highlights on the organization’s key education activities and projects. The podcast also features interviews with education specialists.
The first podcast draws attention to World Refugee Day. Only half of refugee children are thought to be in primary school, and only a quarter in secondary school. UNESCO is committed to the right to education for everyone and helps mobilize resources and find smart solutions to guarantee all children and youth have access.
The podcast also puts the spotlight on UNESCO’s work on preventing violent extremism through education through the following areas of work: developing skills for employment, engaging the youth, harnessing the Internet and social media and empowering women.
Ms Soo Yang Choi, Director of the Division for Inclusion, Peace and Sustainable Development, talks about the recently published Teachers’ Guide on the Prevention of Violent Extremism.
